- 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, toss the apples and cranberries with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Spread evenly in the baking dish.
- In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture forms coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the fruit.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
- Cool slightly before serving, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for best flavor depth.
- Frozen cranberries can be used directly without thawing.
- For added crunch, mix chopped nuts into the crumble.
