Apple Cranberry Crisp

A warm and comforting dessert featuring tender baked apples, tart cranberries, and a buttery spiced oat crumble.

  • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, toss the apples and cranberries with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Spread evenly in the baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture forms coarse crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the fruit.
  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
  7. Cool slightly before serving, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for best flavor depth.
  • Frozen cranberries can be used directly without thawing.
  • For added crunch, mix chopped nuts into the crumble.
