Banana Pudding Trifle

Banana Pudding Trifle is a layered dessert featuring creamy vanilla pudding, fresh banana slices, and soft vanilla wafers, all topped with whipped cream — a nostalgic and crowd-pleasing Southern classic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (5.1 oz) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 3/4 cups cold milk
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 34 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 (11 oz) box vanilla wafer cookies
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional garnish: crushed cookies, banana slices, or whipped cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes. Let sit for 5 minutes to thicken.
  2. Stir in sweetened condensed milk until smooth. Chill for 10–15 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, whip heavy cream with vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold whipped cream into the pudding mixture until fully incorporated.
  5. In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, layer vanilla wafers, banana slices, and pudding mixture. Repeat layers until the dish is full, ending with pudding on top.
  6. Garnish with additional whipped cream, crushed cookies, or banana slices as desired.
  7. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld and cookies to soften.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm bananas to avoid browning and mushiness.
  • Trifle can be made up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the fridge.
  • For added flavor, drizzle layers with caramel or sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Individual trifles can be assembled in jars or cups for easy serving.
