Beef and Broccoli Noodles

Beef and Broccoli Noodles is a classic stir-fry dish that combines tender beef strips, crisp broccoli florets, and flavorful noodles in a savory sauce. This easy-to-make meal is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner, bringing the tastes of your favorite takeout right to your home kitchen.

Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin or flank steak
  • Fresh broccoli florets
  • Noodles (udon, egg noodles, or rice noodles)
  • Soy sauce
  • Oyster sauce
  • Garlic cloves
  • Fresh ginger
  • Sesame oil
  • Vegetable oil
  • Brown sugar
  • Cornstarch
  • Water
  • Green onions
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef thinly against the grain. In a bowl, toss the beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and a little sesame oil. Set aside to marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. Cook the noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet. Sauté minced garlic and ginger until fragrant.
  4. Add beef slices and cook until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  5. In the same pan, stir-fry the broccoli for 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp.
  6. Return the beef to the pan and add cooked noodles.
  7. Pour in a sauce mixture made of soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, water, and optional red pepper flakes. Toss to coat everything evenly.
  8. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  9. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use chicken or shrimp instead of beef.
  • Add bell peppers or snap peas for extra vegetables.
  • Substitute rice noodles with zucchini noodles for a low-carb option.
  • Make it spicy by adding chili paste or sriracha.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat or in the microwave until heated through. Add a splash of water or broth to loosen the sauce when reheating.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free soy sauce and noodles.
  • This dish can also be made vegetarian by replacing beef with tofu or mushrooms.
  • If you prefer a lighter version, you can reduce the amount of soy sauce and use low-sodium options.
  • Double the recipe to feed more people but ensure the pan isn’t overcrowded while stir-frying.
  • For added crunch, consider adding roasted nuts such as peanuts or cashews.
