- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 3 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1/4 cup beef broth or water
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, oyster sauce, beef broth, sesame oil, and black pepper. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add broccoli and cook for 3–4 minutes until crisp-tender. Remove and set aside.
- Add remaining oil to the skillet. Add sliced beef and cook for 2–3 minutes until browned.
- Stir in garlic and ginger; cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Return broccoli to the skillet and pour the sauce over the mixture.
- Stir and cook for 2–3 more minutes until the sauce thickens and everything is well coated.
- Serve hot over rice or noodles.
Notes
- Freeze the steak for 20 minutes before slicing for thinner, easier cuts.
- Add red pepper flakes or Sriracha for heat.
- Substitute chicken or tofu for a different protein.
