Caramel Pancakes

Fluffy golden pancakes drizzled with rich homemade caramel sauce for a sweet, indulgent breakfast treat.

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • For the caramel sauce: 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix gently until just combined.
  4. Heat a lightly buttered skillet over medium heat and pour 1/4 cup batter for each pancake.
  5. Cook until bubbles form on top, then flip and cook until golden brown.
  6. For the caramel sauce, heat sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until melted and amber-colored.
  7. Add butter and whisk until incorporated.
  8. Slowly pour in heavy cream while whisking; cook 1–2 minutes until smooth.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in a pinch of salt.
  10. Serve pancakes warm with caramel sauce drizzled on top.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the pancake batter for maximum fluffiness.
  • The caramel will thicken as it cools; warm it slightly if needed.
  • Add sliced bananas or pecans for added flavor.
