Cheesy Chicken Tater Tot Casserole

A comforting and hearty casserole made with tender chicken, creamy soup, melted cheese, and crispy tater tots. This easy, family-friendly dish is perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.

  • 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded or cubed
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots
  • Optional: chopped parsley or green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix cream of chicken soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Stir in the cooked chicken and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Top with a single layer of frozen tater tots.
  6. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
  7. Remove from oven, sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheese on top, and return to oven for another 5–7 minutes until cheese is melted.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions if desired. Serve hot.

  • Substitute cream of mushroom or celery soup for variation.
