Cheesy Ground Beef and Potato Skillet

A hearty and comforting one-pan meal made with seasoned ground beef, tender potatoes, and plenty of melted cheese. Perfect for a quick family dinner.

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add diced potatoes and cook until golden and slightly tender, about 10 minutes.
  3. Push potatoes to one side of the skillet and add ground beef.
  4. Cook beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5–7 minutes.
  5. Add onion and garlic, cooking until softened and fragrant.
  6. Stir potatoes and beef together, then season with paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  7. Pour in milk, stirring to coat the potatoes and beef.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the skillet.
  9. Cover and reduce heat, letting cheese melt for 3–5 minutes.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Use any melty cheese like mozzarella, Monterey Jack, or Colby instead of cheddar.
  • Add vegetables like bell peppers, peas, or corn for extra flavor and nutrition.
