Chili Spice Mix with Seasoned Tortilla Chips

A bold homemade chili spice mix paired with crispy, oven-baked seasoned tortilla chips—perfect for snacking or topping your favorite meals.

  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 6 corn or flour tortillas
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix chili powder, paprika, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cut tortillas into triangles and place in a large bowl.
  4. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat.
  5. Sprinkle the chili spice mix over the tortilla pieces and toss again to ensure even coverage.
  6. Spread tortilla pieces in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until crisp and lightly golden, turning once halfway through.
  8. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust cayenne pepper for more or less heat.
  • Use whole-wheat tortillas for a healthier option.
  • Store leftover spice mix in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
