- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (for the dough)
- 2 cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips (for topping)
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil or coconut oil (for chocolate topping)
- Holiday sprinkles, for garnish
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in 2 cups of chocolate chips.
- Spread the cookie dough evenly in the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the edges are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Remove from oven and let cool completely in the pan.
- Once cooled, melt the remaining 2 cups of chocolate chips with 1 tbsp of oil in the microwave or over a double boiler.
- Spread melted chocolate over the cooled cookie bars.
- Immediately top with holiday sprinkles before the chocolate sets.
- Allow the chocolate to firm up (you can refrigerate for quicker setting), then cut into bars and serve.
