- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups peeled and finely chopped apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- For the Chocolate Glaze:
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup or honey
- 1 tablespoon milk
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan or 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a large bowl, beat butter, oil, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and creamy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk. Mix just until combined.
- Fold in chopped apples and nuts (if using).
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool in pan for 10–15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze: In a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips, butter, corn syrup, and milk together. Stir until smooth and glossy.
- Drizzle glaze over cooled cake and let set before slicing and serving.

- You can substitute applesauce for part of the oil for a lighter version.
