- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup hot coffee or hot water
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting or glaze)
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a Bundt pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in vanilla extract.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk to the batter, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
- Slowly stir in hot coffee or hot water until the batter is smooth.
- Pour batter evenly into the prepared Bundt pan.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate glaze before serving.
Notes
- Hot coffee enhances the chocolate flavor but water works as well.
- Ensure the Bundt pan is well-greased to prevent sticking.
