- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup melted butter or vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix melted butter (or oil), eggs, vanilla, and milk.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until just combined—do not overmix.
- Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Add espresso powder (1 tsp) to enhance the chocolate flavor.
- For extra moisture, replace half the milk with sour cream or yogurt.
- Top with chocolate ganache for a richer dessert.
