  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional, for extra fudginess)
  • 1/4 cup rainbow or chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Mix in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until fully combined.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the top with rainbow or chocolate sprinkles.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Let cool in the pan before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

  • Do not overbake — slightly underdone brownies stay fudgy as they cool.
  • Sprinkles can be added before or after baking, but baking them in prevents smudging.
  • Double the recipe for a 9×13-inch pan.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for longer storage.
