Classic Meatloa

A traditional, hearty classic meatloaf made with ground beef, breadcrumbs, and seasonings, topped with a tangy tomato glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (divided)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a loaf pan with parchment or lightly grease.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, parsley, and 1/4 cup of the ketchup.
  3. Mix gently until just combined—avoid overmixing.
  4. Transfer mixture to the loaf pan and shape into a loaf.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together remaining 1/4 cup ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread evenly over the top.
  6. Bake for 55–65 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Substitute part of the beef with ground pork for a softer texture.
  • Add diced bell peppers or shredded carrots for extra moisture.
  • Leftovers make great sandwiches.
