Creamy Classic Coleslaw is a timeless side dish made with crisp cabbage and carrots tossed in a rich, tangy dressing. It’s the perfect complement to grilled meats, sandwiches, and picnic fare.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage and carrots.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, vinegar, mustard, sugar, celery seed (if using), salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to combine thoroughly.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Substitute some or all of the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
  • Make ahead and chill overnight for even better flavor.
  • Add red cabbage for color and extra crunch.
