Crispy Bang Bang Shrimp with Creamy Sauce is a flavorful appetizer featuring golden-fried shrimp tossed in a spicy, tangy, and sweet sauce. It’s perfect for parties or as a starter with a bold kick.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, marinate the shrimp in buttermilk for 10–15 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Remove shrimp from the buttermilk and dredge in the flour mixture to coat thoroughly.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the shrimp in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2–3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey to make the sauce.
  7. Toss the fried shrimp in the sauce until evenly coated.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust sriracha to control the spiciness of the sauce.
  • Panko breadcrumbs can be added to the coating for extra crunch.
  • Serve over rice, in lettuce wraps, or as a taco filling for variations.
