Easy Chocolate Brownies

Easy Chocolate Brownies are quick to make and deliver a rich, fudgy texture with deep chocolate flavor. Perfect for beginners, they require simple pantry ingredients and minimal prep time for a classic homemade treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract and whisk until well combined.
  4. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir until just combined—do not overmix.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips or chunks if using.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Allow to cool in the pan before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • For fudgier brownies, bake closer to 20 minutes and cool completely before slicing.
  • Add a handful of chopped nuts or swirl in peanut butter for variation.
  • Use high-quality cocoa powder for the best flavor.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
