Fish Fillet in Tomato Sauce

Fish Fillet in Tomato Sauce is a light and flavorful dish where tender fish fillets are simmered in a rich, tangy tomato-based sauce, perfect for serving with rice or crusty bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 white fish fillets (such as cod, tilapia, or haddock)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season fish fillets with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, paprika, oregano, and chili flakes if using. Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Gently place the fish fillets into the tomato sauce. Cover and cook for 8–10 minutes, or until fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Use firm white fish to prevent breaking apart during cooking.
  • Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread.
  • For a richer flavor, add olives or capers to the sauce.
