- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Butter or oil for cooking
- Maple syrup or toppings of choice (optional)
- In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg, and melted butter. Mix until smooth. Do not overmix.
- Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Pour about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the griddle.
- Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look dry, about 2-3 minutes.
- Flip and cook the other side until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes more.
- Repeat with remaining batter, adding more butter or oil to the pan as needed.
- Serve warm with maple syrup or your favorite toppings.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter; a few lumps will result in fluffier pancakes.
- Let the batter rest for 5–10 minutes before cooking for best results.
- You can substitute buttermilk for regular milk for a tangier flavor and even fluffier texture.
