- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar, for dusting
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
- Beat in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until well combined. Stir in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Do not overbake to maintain a fudgy texture.
- For extra richness, add a handful of chopped walnuts or more chocolate chips.
