Funfetti Sugar Cookies

Soft and chewy Funfetti sugar cookies bursting with colorful sprinkles and classic vanilla sweetness.

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup rainbow sprinkles (jimmies style)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the rainbow sprinkles.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Use jimmies-style sprinkles to prevent color bleeding.
  • Do not overbake—cookies will firm up as they cool.
  • Chill the dough for 20 minutes if the cookies spread too much.
