- 12 oz spaghetti
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- Cook spaghetti in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente.
- Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta cooking water, then drain the spaghetti.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and butter.
- Once butter is melted, add minced garlic and red pepper flakes.
- Sauté for 30–60 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to brown the garlic.
- Add cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss to coat.
- Add a splash of reserved pasta water to loosen the sauce if needed.
- Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve immediately.
