- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup shredded sweetened coconut
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press the crust mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake for 10 minutes.
- In a saucepan, melt the chocolate chips with the sweetened condensed milk over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Remove from heat, then stir in the egg and vanilla. Pour the mixture over the partially baked crust.
- In a separate bowl, combine pecans, coconut, brown sugar, and melted butter. Sprinkle evenly on top of the chocolate layer.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the topping is golden and set.
- Allow to cool completely before slicing into bars.
Notes
- Chill the bars before cutting for cleaner slices.
- Toast the pecans for deeper flavor.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
