Glazed Tofu with Herbs

Tender tofu coated in a sweet-savory glaze and finished with fresh herbs for a flavorful, protein-rich dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 14 oz firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes or slices.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add tofu and cook until golden on all sides, about 6–8 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and chili flakes.
  5. Pour the glaze mixture into the skillet with tofu.
  6. Cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring gently, until the glaze thickens and coats the tofu.
  7. Season with salt and pepper if needed.
  8. Remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh herbs.
  9. Serve warm with rice, noodles, or vegetables.

Notes

  • Press tofu well to achieve a firmer, crispier texture.
  • Use maple syrup instead of honey for a vegan option.
  • Try basil or mint for a different herb profile.
