Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings

Crispy, zesty, and full of flavor, these Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings are baked or fried to perfection and tossed in a buttery lemon pepper seasoning. Perfect as a game-day snack, appetizer, or main dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 kg (2.2 lbs) chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon lemon pepper seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional for extra zing)
  • Cooking spray or oil (if baking)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top. Lightly spray the rack with cooking spray.
  2. Pat chicken wings dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss wings with baking powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Arrange wings on the wire rack in a single layer. Bake for 45-50 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden brown.
  4. While wings are baking, melt butter and stir in lemon pepper seasoning, garlic powder, and lemon zest.
  5. Remove wings from oven and transfer to a large bowl. Pour the lemon pepper butter mixture over the wings and toss until fully coated.
  6. Serve immediately with ranch or blue cheese dressing, if desired.

Notes

  • For even crispier wings, refrigerate them uncovered for a few hours or overnight to dry out the skin before baking.
  • Adjust lemon pepper seasoning to taste depending on brand strength.
  • Can also be deep-fried at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes.
  • Air fryer method: Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, shaking halfway.
