Lemon Tiramisu Bars

Lemon Tiramisu Bars are a bright, citrusy twist on the classic Italian dessert, featuring layers of lemon-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone filling, topped with whipped cream and a dusting of lemon zest.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package ladyfingers (savoiardi)
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar (for soaking mixture)
  • 1 cup heavy cream, cold
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: extra lemon zest or candied lemon for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine lemon juice, zest, and granulated sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  3. In another bowl, gently beat mascarpone until smooth. Fold in whipped cream until fully incorporated and creamy.
  4. Dip each ladyfinger briefly into the lemon juice mixture (do not soak).
  5. Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in an 8×8-inch dish.
  6. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  7. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and remaining mascarpone mixture.
  8. Smooth the top and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  9. Before serving, garnish with lemon zest or candied lemon slices. Slice into bars and serve chilled.

Notes

  • Use fresh lemon juice for best flavor; adjust sugar to taste if lemons are very tart.
  • Do not over-soak ladyfingers or the dessert may become soggy.
  • Chill thoroughly to allow layers to set and flavors to meld.
  • Great make-ahead dessert for spring or summer gatherings.
