- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with the milk, mixing just until combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cake cools slightly, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake, allowing it to soak in.
- Let the cake cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- For extra flavor, replace milk in the glaze with lemon juice.
- Ensure the cake is still warm when glazing for maximum absorption.
- You can add citrus zest or spices to customize flavor.
