- 2 cans (15 oz each) baked beans
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and bell peppers; sauté for 5–7 minutes until softened.
- Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine baked beans, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, black pepper, and salt.
- Stir in the sautéed vegetables and mix well to combine.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and cover with foil.
- Bake for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes to slightly thicken.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use canned vegetarian baked beans for a meat-free version.
- For extra flavor, add a splash of apple cider vinegar or hot sauce.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 4 days and reheated easily.
