- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring; mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop dough into balls and place on the baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are set but centers remain soft.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
