Soft and Chewy Apple Chocolate Chip Cookies are a delightful twist on the classic cookie, combining chunks of fresh apple with gooey chocolate chips for a moist and flavorful treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup peeled and finely chopped apple (about 1 medium apple)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped apple and chocolate chips.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough (about 1.5 tablespoons each) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use a firm apple variety like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best texture.
  • Do not overbake to maintain a soft, chewy center.
  • Cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Add a handful of chopped nuts for added crunch.
