Spicy Chicken Dumplings in Chili Oil Broth: A Bold and Flavorful Comfort Dish

Bold and comforting spicy chicken dumplings served in a flavorful chili oil broth, combining tender wrappers, juicy filling, and a rich, aromatic kick for a warming dish.

  • 30 dumpling wrappers
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (for filling)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (for filling)
  • 1 tsp chili flakes (optional, for filling)
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (for broth)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp chili oil (plus more for serving)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt, to taste
  • Extra chopped green onions and sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground chicken, garlic, ginger, green onions, 2 tbsp soy sauce, sesame oil, and chili flakes until well combined.
  2. Place 1 tsp of filling in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, fold, and seal tightly.
  3. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook dumplings in batches for 4–5 minutes or until they float and are fully cooked.
  4. Meanwhile, in a separate pot, bring chicken broth to a simmer. Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili oil, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Divide cooked dumplings into bowls and ladle hot chili oil broth over them.
  6. Drizzle additional chili oil if desired, and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy the spicy comfort!

Notes

  • Adjust chili oil amount to control spiciness.
  • Dumplings can be frozen before cooking for future meals.
  • Use store-bought dumpling wrappers to save time.
