Spicy Green Beans

Crisp-tender green beans stir-fried with garlic, chili flakes, and savory seasonings for a simple, spicy, and flavorful side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 tbsp vegetable or olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp sugar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Blanch green beans in boiling water for 2–3 minutes, then drain and rinse under cold water to keep them crisp.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add green beans and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes.
  5. Stir in chili flakes, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sugar if using.
  6. Cook another 1–2 minutes, tossing to coat evenly.
  7. Season with salt and pepper and serve warm.

Notes

  • Add toasted sesame seeds for a nutty finish.
  • Use sriracha or chili paste for a hotter version.
  • Skip soy sauce for a low-sodium or soy-free option.
