Spicy Shrimp Cornbread Ring

Spicy Shrimp Cornbread Ring is a Southern-style savory bake combining fluffy cornbread with juicy shrimp, bold spices, and cheese, all baked in a ring mold for a festive and flavorful dish that’s perfect for brunch, dinner, or parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (8.5 oz) cornbread mix
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (or more to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Nonstick spray or butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a bundt or ring pan with nonstick spray or butter.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, warm olive oil and sauté garlic for 30 seconds. Add chopped shrimp, paprika, cayenne, and salt. Cook for 2–3 minutes until shrimp are just cooked through. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, combine cornbread mix, milk, egg, and shredded cheddar. Stir just until blended.
  4. Fold in cooked shrimp and chopped green onions.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Let cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate. Slice and serve warm.
  8. Optional: garnish with extra green onions or serve with spicy mayo or aioli.

Notes

  • Use cooked shrimp to save time, just sauté with garlic and seasoning for flavor.
  • Can be made in muffin tins for individual servings.
  • Adjust spice level by adding more cayenne or diced jalapeños.
  • Pairs well with a crisp salad or coleslaw.
