Steak Crostini with Cream Sauce

Steak Crostini with Cream Sauce is an elegant appetizer featuring tender slices of seared steak atop toasted baguette slices, finished with a rich, savory cream sauce — perfect for parties or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 8 oz steak (such as sirloin or filet mignon), seasoned with salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: chopped parsley or chives

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush baguette slices with olive oil and place on a baking sheet. Toast for 8–10 minutes until golden and crisp.
  2. While crostini are toasting, heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steak for 3–4 minutes per side (for medium-rare) or to desired doneness. Let rest 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
  3. In a small saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic for 1 minute. Add cream and Dijon mustard; simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Stir in Parmesan cheese and cook until melted and slightly thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. To assemble, place a slice of steak on each crostini and spoon cream sauce over the top.
  6. Garnish with chopped herbs if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use a high-quality cut of steak for the most tender texture.
  • Crostini can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container.
  • The cream sauce can be flavored with a splash of white wine or horseradish for variation.
  • Great as an appetizer or part of a charcuterie-style spread.
