Sticky Dr Pepper Glazed Chicken Wings

Sticky Dr Pepper Glazed Chicken Wings are sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy wings coated in a glossy glaze made with Dr Pepper soda, creating a caramelized exterior and finger-licking flavor perfect for parties or game day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken wings, split and tips removed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Dr Pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Chopped green onions or sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. Pat the chicken wings dry and toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Arrange on the rack in a single layer.
  3. Bake wings for 40-45 minutes, turning halfway through, until crispy and golden.
  4. While wings are baking, combine Dr Pepper, ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne in a saucepan over medium heat.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes until thickened into a sticky glaze.
  6. Once wings are done baking, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the glaze over the wings and toss to coat.
  7. Optional: Return glazed wings to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes to caramelize further.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Dr Pepper adds unique flavor and natural caramelization to the glaze.
  • Adjust cayenne for more or less heat.
  • Glaze can be made ahead and stored in the fridge.
