Strawberry Kiss Blossoms

Soft, sweet strawberry-flavored cookies rolled in sugar and topped with a chocolate kiss, creating a fruity twist on the classic blossom cookie.

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup strawberry preserves
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 12 drops pink or red food coloring (optional)
  • 24 chocolate kiss candies, unwrapped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter and 3/4 cup of the sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and strawberry preserves. Add food coloring if desired.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and coat in the remaining 1/4 cup granulated sugar.
  7. Place on the baking sheet spaced apart and bake for 9–11 minutes until set.
  8. Immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each warm cookie.
  9. Cool completely to allow the chocolate to firm.

Notes

  • Use seedless strawberry jam or puree for smoother texture.
  • Freeze chocolate kisses beforehand to help them keep their shape.
  • For extra strawberry flavor, add 1/4 tsp strawberry extract.
