- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup chicken broth or dry white wine
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
- Season chicken breasts on both sides with salt and black pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a plate and cover.
- Reduce heat to medium. In the same skillet, melt butter and add garlic. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Deglaze the pan with chicken broth or white wine, scraping up any browned bits.
- Stir in fresh chopped basil and lemon juice if using. Simmer for 2–3 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Return chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over the top, and cook for another 2 minutes until heated through.
- Serve immediately, spooning extra basil butter sauce over the chicken.
