Toffee Bars with Walnuts

Crunchy, buttery toffee bars topped with rich chocolate and chopped walnuts for an easy, irresistible dessert.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla until creamy.
  3. Add the flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  6. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot crust and allow them to melt for 1–2 minutes.
  7. Spread the melted chocolate into a smooth layer.
  8. Sprinkle chopped walnuts over the chocolate and gently press them in.
  9. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

  • Toast the walnuts for deeper flavor.
  • Substitute pecans or almonds if preferred.
  • Refrigerate briefly to set the chocolate faster.
