- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla until creamy.
- Add the flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until lightly golden.
- Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot crust and allow them to melt for 1–2 minutes.
- Spread the melted chocolate into a smooth layer.
- Sprinkle chopped walnuts over the chocolate and gently press them in.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
Notes
- Toast the walnuts for deeper flavor.
- Substitute pecans or almonds if preferred.
- Refrigerate briefly to set the chocolate faster.
