Tomato Basil Bruschetta

A fresh and flavorful Italian appetizer made with ripe tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic, and olive oil, served on toasted bread slices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 baguette, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing bread)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let sit for 10–15 minutes to blend flavors.
  3. Place baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil.
  4. Toast the bread in the oven for 5–7 minutes or until golden and crisp.
  5. Remove bread from oven and let cool slightly.
  6. Spoon the tomato mixture onto each toasted baguette slice just before serving.

Notes

  • Use the freshest tomatoes and basil for the best flavor.
  • Optionally rub toasted bread with a cut garlic clove for extra aroma.
  • Serve immediately to prevent soggy bread.
