- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1/2 cup water
- 12 oz (340g) pasta (penne or fusilli preferred)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Optional: yogurt or crumbled feta for serving
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Stir in ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned.
- Season with cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Add tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, and water. Stir and bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Add cooked pasta to the sauce and stir until well combined and heated through.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and optional yogurt or feta.
